PAEDIATRIC LONG BONE FRACTURES

The primary and most established indication for TEN. Children have growing bones with open growth plates that must be protected during fixation. The elastic nail enters through a distal entry point away from the growth plate, providing stable fixation without risk to the physis. Reliable fracture stabilisation with preservation of normal bone growth.

FEMORAL SHAFT FRACTURES

In paediatric patients with femoral shaft fractures, TEN provides excellent stabilisation while allowing early mobilisation. Two nails inserted from opposite ends of the femur create balanced three-point fixation that maintains alignment throughout healing, avoiding the prolonged immobilisation of traction-based approaches.

TIBIAL FRACTURES

TEN provides reliable fixation for paediatric tibial shaft fractures with minimal soft tissue disruption. The minimally invasive technique reduces infection risk and supports faster return to weight bearing and normal activity, getting children back on their feet sooner.

RADIUS AND ULNA FRACTURES

Forearm fractures are among the most common paediatric injuries. TEN allows precise reduction and stable fixation of both bones through minimal incisions preserving the soft tissue envelope and supporting full forearm rotation recovery.

HUMERAL FRACTURES

For displaced humeral shaft fractures in children where closed reduction is not sufficient, TEN provides stable intramedullary fixation without exposing the radial nerve. The elastic fixation allows early shoulder and elbow mobilisation for faster functional recovery.

SELECTED METAPHYSEAL FRACTURES

In selected metaphyseal fracture patterns where the geometry allows intramedullary fixation, TEN provides an effective minimally invasive alternative to plating, reducing operative time and soft tissue disruption where it matters most.
