Caesarean Section Awareness Month

Caesarean Section Awareness Month
April is Caesarean Section Awareness Month. And this year, we are not just raising awareness. We are starting a conversation that cannot wait any longer.Β πŸ’™

South Africa’s maternal mortality rate remains one of the most pressing challenges in our healthcare system. According to the latest Saving Mothers report by the NCCEMD, 59% of maternal deaths are considered possibly or probably preventable within the health system. The Caesarean section rate has risen to 31.1% nationally, with over 88% of deaths occurring in the public sector.
Β
C-sections are meant to save lives. But they are not without risk. Overburdened facilities, delays in emergency intervention, and resource and staffing constraints mean that even life-saving procedures can become high-risk when systems are stretched.
Β
Improving maternal outcomes is not just about access to surgery. It is about how safely and efficiently that surgery is performed. Because when a mother enters theatre, every second and every detail matters.
Β
This April, Cargo Medi Distributors is committed to being part of the solution. Over the coming weeks we will be sharing insights, data, and practical information about what happens inside the operating theatre during a C-section and why it matters more than most people realise.
Β
Because behind every C-section statistic is a mother. A baby. A family. And a life worth fighting for.Β πŸ€πŸ‘ΆπŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦
